Acupuncture is one of the longest established forms of healthcare in the world.
Qi pronounced ‘Chi’ (energy) is said to flow through meridians or pathways in the human body and these are accessible through 350 acupuncture points all over the body. Acupuncture can stimulate nerves and muscles in the body by the insertion of very thin needles through a person's skin at specific points and various depths. A growing body of evidence based clinical research shows that traditional acupuncture safely treats a wide range of common health problems.
Traditional acupuncturists believe that ill health and pain occur when there is a disruption to the flow of Qi or energy in the body. The insertion of needles into specific acupuncture points helps to re-establish the flow of Qi thereby restoring balance and awakening the body’s own healing response.
I trained in 2016 with Dr Phillip Lawes to study acupuncture for pain and structural dysfunction. I often use Acupuncture alongside Amatsu if I feel it will enhance the treatment for my clients.
